Many successful people are people who follow their passion, whatever they may be. If you do whatever you're passionate about, there's a certainty that you would excel in that area. How do you expect to be the best doing something you do not have any passion in ?
I really love the part of the show 'Pursuit of Happyness' where Chris tells his son to never let anyone tell him what he cannot do. A lot of great successful people became great because they never listened to negative things told to them. Michael Jordan was told he could never make it big in basketball because he was too short. He used that negative motivation to become the greatest basketball player of all time...
